Accessibility Statement
We endeavour to ensure that our website and mobile applications comply with the Provincial Act on the Prohibition of Discrimination on the Grounds of Ethnic Origin, Religion, Belief, Disability, Age, Gender or Sexual Orientation (Upper Austrian Anti-Discrimination Act – Upper Austrian ADG)(Section 15b) and the Ordinance on Requirements for Accessible Websites and Mobile Applications within the Scope of the Upper Austrian ADG (Upper Austrian WEBVO 2020) implementing Directive (EU) 2016/2102 of the European Parliament and of the Council.
This accessibility statement applies to the following websites and mobile applications: www.berau.at
1. Information on operation and accessibility
a) Responsive web design
Thanks to its responsive web design, our website is optimised for a wide variety of devices (mobile phones, tablets, desktop computers). Content elements (e.g. images, page layout, size) are automatically optimised for the best possible readability and adapted to the respective screen size.
b) Keyboard navigation
The website can be navigated using the keyboard (Tab key, up, down, right and left arrow keys). The image gallery (Lightbox) can be closed using the ESC key.
2. Status of compliance with requirements
These websites and mobile applications are partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 – AA and the accessibility requirements according to DIN EN 301 549 V2.1.2, Edition 2018-08, due to the following non-conformities / exceptions.
3. Content that is not or only partially accessible
The content listed below is not accessible or only partially accessible for the following reasons:
a) Incompatibility / disproportionate burden (in accordance with Directive (EU) 2016/2102)
- PDF and Word documents (particularly older documents) used on the websites are not accessible. If you require content from one of our PDF or Word documents, please contact us. We will endeavour to provide you with the information in another format.
- All images should be accessible to screen reader users via alternative text. If, in exceptional cases, an image is not described with alternative text and the content is therefore only partially accessible, please let us know.
- We endeavour to write our texts largely without abbreviations and foreign words. Where possible, we have marked abbreviations and foreign words accordingly and provided markups to explain their meaning. We also avoid convoluted sentence structures as far as possible. If you find a text difficult to understand and therefore consider it only partially accessible, please contact us. We will endeavour to provide you with an easily understandable version.
- Videos without subtitles and audio description: Some of the videos embedded on our website do not currently have synchronised subtitles or an alternative audio description for blind or visually impaired people. Retrofitting all existing videos with these features would, at present, place a disproportionate financial and organisational burden on us. However, we endeavour to incorporate accessibility from the outset in newly produced videos.
- Content falling outside the scope of applicable legislation (exceptions):
Interactive maps (Google Maps): The interactive Google Maps map embedded on our website is not fully accessible to people with certain disabilities (e.g. those relying solely on keyboard navigation or screen reader users). According to legal provisions, map services fall under the permitted exceptions for third-party content, over the technical provision and programming of which we have no direct influence.
Customer reviews (Google Reviews / Google Places): The Google reviews, which are dynamically reloaded, originate from an external service provider. We cannot control or modify the layout of the output, its readability via screen readers, or the accessibility of the texts written by third parties. This also constitutes external content within the meaning of the statutory exceptions.
c) Other information
- Spam protection: We require various anti-spam techniques for our contact forms to protect against spam and bulk emails. If you are unable to use a form due to this feature, please send us an email to office@berau.at or call us on +43 6138 2543
4. Enquiries and suggestions
We place great importance on the ongoing adaptation and optimisation of our websites and mobile applications. If you have any questions regarding the use of the website or suggestions regarding the content, please contact us by email at: office@berau.at
We will review your enquiry and inform you of the outcome, as well as the measures taken or planned, within 2 months. Enquiries regarding the content of websites and mobile applications that are exempt from the obligation to meet accessibility requirements and are not accessible will also be answered within 2 months.
